Adult Education / Formation
The pilgrim's journey is marked by steps that are external and steps that are internal... both of them lead us outward and lead us inward, depending on where we are, and what we need to learn. Sometimes, this journey covers the longest distance... that between the head and the heart... and in the last few decades, many of the medical and scientific disciplines have also discerned an integration between mind and body; and have acknowledged that what affects one, affects the other.
Christian programs of Adult Education / Formation and Sunday School ostensibly focus on the mind... but if we are to be formed, our hearts need to be tendered as well. Disciplines like praying with icons, centering prayer, lectio divina, praying the Anglican rosary, labyrinth walking, and others are designed to contribute towards our formation.
Our desire at Holy Cross, is to provide opportunities for as many of these explorations as possible. Our Wednesday evening Adult Education / Formation (mostly) parallels the school year and begins with (a pot-luck) dinner at 6:00, and the program / discussion starts at 6:30 (and runs until 8:00).
